The compound is under construction. Gathering enough plywood, galvanized tin and used trailers takes time, not to mention stockpiling all the shotgun ammo, canned goods and bourbon.
I think the trick, Kate, is to read British news. What American paper would EVER think to use the word "resplendent" in a news article? The average reader's eyes would glaze over.

This all just seems worse than usual.
Believe it or not, I can knock off crap like this in between bites of a sandwich.
But still, worse than usual...how? Like, the news is worse, or my behavior?
