It was a dark and stormy night

I love a good cliche. The thing is, it was a dark and stormy night last night. The power stayed on, but the cable--the TV, internet and telephone--went out around 9. And the pictures you see to the right are what the back yard looks like this morning.

We're lucky the tree came down and smashed the neighbor's fence, and not the roof of our house. And our cable service came back on this morning, even though the cable itself is still on the ground, so at least we have contact with the outside world.

Maybe this will be the excuse to buy that honkin' chainsaw I've always wanted. Groovy.

Wasn't it a great storm??? The only downside was that I had to go outside and through the alley to get my laundry out of the laundry room.

I love the wind and the trees whipping around though, and the lightening...the lightening was great.

The storm was awesome--a perfect excuse to go to bed early and curl up with a good book. I'm taking some comp time to cut out of work early today so I can take pictures and contact my insurance.

I heard the south side/suburbs took a worse hit than we did. Sorry about your basement and your loss of alone time. That alone time can be precious.

The stogie totally makes the wood choppin' pic.

Yeah, and I wasn't really into my drink yet at that point either. Kind of hard to swing an axe while holding a tin cup full of bourbon.
