Decoration Truck Monday

Driving to and from Iowa was just like this:

Thank you Dena. Before she sent me this link, I'd never heard of Dekotora. Now I have, and so have you.

Well, you need something to spice up that boring drive. I could have used a little Dekotora when I used to drive the 400 miles back & forth between Minneapolis and Chicago repeatedly.

That's not too bad a drive. Try Chicago to Des Moines. I shudder to think of what it's like to drive west of there.

Reminds me of the story about one of Custer's scouts returning to camp. He rode in, horse lathered, pierced with arrows, bloody and dusty. He staggered up to Custer and saluted and said "sir, I'm ready to give my report." Custer returned the salute and told the scout to continue.

"Well, sir, there's good news and bad news." Custer said "I'm a career soldier, give me the bad news first."

The scout said "well, sir, just over that ridge there are tens of thousands of Sioux warriors. It's a sure thing that not a man among us will make it out alive. We're all sure to be slaughtered."

"For God's sake, man, that's horrible! What's the good news then?"

The scout answered:

"Well, sir, we won't have to ride back through Nebraska."

Mr. Ten S was very amused by the flashy trucks. I want my car to look like that!

My friend Dena described it as "like Las Vegas on wheels."

I'm with General Custer on the Nebraska thing. Sheesh.
