Please Take My Crap

I had a bright idea the other day (at least I thought it was bright at the time, we'll see how it works out) of starting a blog to post pictures and descriptions of stuff I want to get rid of. Sort of a virtual version of something between a garage sale and just setting your stuff out on the curb.

You can read about it here:

Please Take My Crap

The first item to go will be a full-sized wooden church pew. We found it while walking home from the farmers market last summer, and then discovered it was too big for our dining room.

I got this idea from something Barbara posted on Bad Tempered Zombie. She described a neighborhood garbage exchange, where all the neighbors drag stuff they don't want out to the curb, and the entire 'hood walks around picking through each other's cast-offs. Perhaps I'll expand this service to our entire blogger community. I know we've got more than a couple of pack rats reading this.

That's about the best idea I ever heard.

Thanks! I'm thinking of making this a group blog and turning it into an open forum for de-crapping all our homes. Would you be interested in participating? I figure that, throughout the Chicagoland area, we can reach quite a few people.

Sounds like a verse from Alice's Restaurant. Be wary of throwing pew off the side of a side road.

Sure, we'd be happy to participate.

I don't know if we have anything quite as cool as a church pew, but I was just getting ready to haul out some perfectly good furniture out to the alley, and stopped when I saw your post.

well that kinda doesn't work for those of us living far away but I love the concept

I think that de-crapping is my new favourite word!

A garbage exchange without having to leave your couch - brilliant!
