Halloween, 1967

Here's my entry for the Big Wicked Online Pageant. I had a few childhood costumes to choose from, but I went with one from October 1967. I think you'll see why:

I have never mentioned this before, but for several years before the birth of my younger brothers, my parents were circus people. This was taken at a stop in Port Washington, NY.

Love it! The Ramshackles were creepy clownfolk!

Well it takes one to know a bad one. No wonder you have been doggedly following their exploits since then. Did you ever dress up as a Croc or Gator? Or a German or Floridian? Things would really start falling into place if you had a yes answer to either of these questions.

Great pic! And we had the same T.V.

Well, in my mind that explains a hell of a lot.

You are so cute...

This photo needs to be incorporated into your blog in some permanent way. It's a classic!

It all makes sense now. Scary. But still cute. You damned clown!

I'm beginning to understand your current aversion to clowns...

Pretty nice costume for 1967. Most of us kids were wearing the still wearing the little plastic masks and flammable pajamas they called costumes back then.

'splains a lot. I agree that it must be incorporated into the blog in a permanent way.

They (my mom and her sister my Aunt Carol) stuffed me into a clown costume around that time as well, the bastards. I love that huge TV behind you.

Laugh, clown, laugh...

"This was taken at a stop in Port Washington, NY."

Wha? That's the hometown of The Missus!

that is wonderful, and we had the same TV also. Of course, didn't everyone have the same TV back then?

This is proof positive that Gacey didn't HAVE to be psycho killer after getting into the clown biz. Just sayin'.

in first grade, my mother made me wear an inchworm costume that she made herself. i didn't even make it to recess and i haven't recovered since.

Why, that clown isn't scary at all. In fact, he's quite cute.

Cute, cute outfit. I wore something similar to my prom :)

This explains so very much. I'm surprised you didn't turn out to be a serial killer. You didn't, right?

It's lucky you didn't catch on fire, so close to that open flame!

Awesome clown!

Happy Halloween!

Wait, so are you serious about your parents being circus people? What do "circus people" do? Have you read "Geek Love" yet?

When your picture came up on the screen I actually roared outloud. Thanks for the laugh!

The best picture ever taken.

I kid you not, my word verification is "mondster".

I'm sorry, but you look like a clown in this picture.
