4 movies you would watch over and over again:
- Casablanca
- Apocalypse Now
- Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas
- Caddyshack
- Louisville, Kentucky
- Teaneck, New Jersey
- Yardley, Pennsylvania
- Chicago, Illinois
- No Reservations
- Iron Chef America
- Metalocalypse I love this show. My youngest got me the first 2 seasons on DVD. I watched it all in two days after Christmas, and then couldn't fall asleep properly because I kept hearing the theme song in my head.
- South Park Hard to believe this show is more than 10 years old.
- The Florida Keys
- Las Vegas
- New Orleans
- Ireland
- Sushi
- Buzzard's Breath chili This is more or less the recipe my chili is based on. Mine is better, I think.
- Raw oysters
- Gumbo "You can eat a lot of gumbo" is what MizBubs said when I mentioned this. Gumbo z'herbes, chicken and andouille gumbo, seafood gumbo, duck and oyster gumbo...
- Chicago Now If I may self promote, this is where my cop blog Arresting Tales is located.
- Salon
- Second City Cop
- Fark
- A cabin on a lake in Minnesota
- The French Quarter
- My backyard (I'm sitting here because I came down with a wicked cold last night, and I'm still trying to clear my head, and it's a beautiful day outside.)
- Driving somewhere out west to someplace I've never visited
- Own a small farm
- Drive around the USA for at least a couple months
- Do a through-hike of a major trail like the Appalachian or Pacific Crest
- Scuba dive
- Under the Volcano
- Anything by Raymond Chandler or Dashiell Hammet
- In the Electric Mist with Confederate Dead I have read all of James Lee Burke's novels featuring Dave Robicheaux, but this one made the biggest impression on me.
- The World According to Garp

I think that deep down we do these things to know ourselves and because we do want others to know us for who we really are.
Oysters. Oysters and fresh crab are two foods that I can never get enough of.
That's good meem, Bubs. "Gilliam did almost a word-for-word adaptation of "Fear & Loathing," I just wish he did it sooner so that it might have found a greater audience.
"No Reservations," why didn't I pick that? Of all the shows that I will watch over a dozen times, it's Tony. That's just good food and good snark. I wish he and Food Network would bury the hatchet, so that the old show could be on DVD, that Russian episode was better food-wise, than the Travel Channel's.

People Like Lists. Heh.
I'm not even sure if I know what gumbo is, to tell you the truth, but damn I sure would like some.
I may need to tag myself, as it's been a day or two since I listed. And lists are what separate us from the animals.
Funny, I recently rented Caddyshack for the kids to watch - played it up as one of the funniest flicks ever ... but when we watched it, it seemed so slow and drawn out. The gags were still funny but you had to waaaaiiitttt for them.
The kids thought I was nuts for loving this dull movie. Funny how your memory works.
But Ghost Busters, that still works.
Tommy Blacha, the co-creator of Metalacolypse, is an old friend/drinking buddy of mine! The last time I saw him was the night he left Chicago to take a job on Conan O'Brien's show in the mid-nineties. I scoffed a little-- O'Brien's show was terrible, and I asked him if that wasn't a little like finding out you made first mate on the Titanic.
In any event, I asked him how he landed the job, and he told me that the fat guy named Andy that we used to drink with got him in. That guy was Andy Richter.
He left O'Brien's show (after pretty much saving it by punching up the writing) to take a job as head writer on Orlando Wilson's ill-fated show. I've noticed he's been doing pretty well on Adult Swim since then.
I wouldn't have pegged you as a Metalocalypse dude. Oh, and congratulations on the shout out from the Vaca-tion.info Team.
topo many fours too little time
