Carnage at the compound

MizBubs, dynamic early riser, made a gruesome discovery this morning.

An unknown rabbit, clearly lacking even
basic Darwinian survival instincts, decided to make a nest in our yard. Our yard that is a big playground for two terriers. And she built the nest less than a foot off to the side of the well-worn path that the dogs use to haul ass from the back porch to the far corner of the yard when they see squirrels running along the back fence. None of our neighbors have dogs or cats, so you'd think that given a choice most rabbits would pick a yard that does not smell like predator poo.

So, while I was sleeping soundly, MizBubs was on dead bunny detail in the back yard. The body count was three, but she thinks some of the wounded might have crawled off.

By the time I came out with my coffee, all that was left was a bare patch in the lawn, a little hole, and some cottony tufts drifting like little tumbleweeds across the grass.

Circle of life, yo.
