December 26: Here's an idea
What would people think about maybe having our December 26th get-together at the fabulous Hala-Kahiki Lounge? It should be pretty roomy on a Wednesday night, and I've been there with parties of 10 or 12 people on short notice with no problems. The drinks are cheap and strong, and there's beer and straight liquor for the unadventurous.
The Hala-Kahiki is in River Grove, on River Road between Belmont and Grand Avenue. It's pretty easily accessible from I-90, I-294 and the western suburbs. It's easy to get to from the north side of Chicago as well. Here's a map:

Just thought I'd throw that out there. I'm happy in pretty much any old gin mill.

I'm not a good snow driver, particularly at night. And I'm not entirely sure where River Grove is even. How far is that from the Northside?
Straight out Irving Park Rd or Belmont to River Road, just west of Cumberland. About 8000 west. River Grove is between Franklin Park and Elmwood Park.
I could do it. Makes no difference where it is, rain or snow. I will be there. And afterwords I can go to Rolling Stones Records.
1. Are we invited?
2. Is Stella allowed?
Because if so, we might just be able to make it. Will the girls be there?
Lu-I could drive.
Ten S, it would be worth carpooling to if that's an issue for anyone.
Dena, I can't remember who brought up the idea--I think it was Chris from Some Guy's Blog. Evidently some of these "bloggers" have a holiday get-together. We missed the one last year. I hadn't heard anyone mention a venue yet, so I thought I'd suggest the Hala Kahiki. Answers to your questions:
2) It will be adults only.
1) You and Bill would be welcome additions, of course you're invited! You have blogs.
Grant Miller, or we could go across the street and shoot rats in the forest preserve down by the river. Either way sounds like fun!
Works for us, we're coming from Evanston.
Um, I think my sister is driving, so that sounds great to me!
Should be able to make that, after the kiddies get to bed.
Sounds like a plan, Stan. I'll be there.
I'm going to try and make it, and I'l bring Tom along as well. The only catch is work cause I'm leading the "TRIA" project and things may be down to the wire right about that time. TRIA is the government terrorism act that is about to expire on 12/31/07 - in case u r wondering.
