Blowtorch pizza

I am so proud. My eldest just came home from the Rat Patrol Thanksgiving dinner. She brought ingredients to make homemade pizza. Which she made, and her boyfriend Cody cooked. With a blowtorch. On the wooden back porch of an apartment in Chicago. The tenant came out at one point and commented "that's probably violating some kind of fire code" and then returned inside.

Yes, my daughter made a blowtorch pizza. It was, by her account, a crowd favorite. "Hey, you got to try some of the blowtorch pizza."

I have always had a knack with fire. But now, clearly, the torch has been passed.

A+ for culinary skills, F for safety. Chicago has already made Wikipedia under the heading "Porch Collapse" do we want to make it for "Porch FIre" too?

It turns out it wasn't their Thanksgiving, that's Saturday. This was the standard Thursday potluck.

A couple of years ago, an old friend and her son dropped by my house. Her son and my son started playing with those "snap-pop" things that you throw on the ground and explode. Since it was chilly, I lit one of those big citronella candles, so they could stay warm. And of course they decided to see what happens when you throw the snap-pops in the candle. What happens is that it sprays flaming hot wax all over the back porch. My friend's kid took off running, but my son yelled for me to get back there. Good thing- the porch would have been burning in another minute or so. Needless to say, Adam lost snap-pop privelges for a while.

At least Bubs will be right on scene for the arrest!

Arrest?!? You mean, I'll be right on scene for the coverup.

I know naught of this blowtorch pizza you speak of, but my better half wants me to get him one of those kitchen blowtorches so that he can make proper creme brulee and that sort of thing. I support this idea.

Haha, that's what I meant Bubs!

CP those kitchen blowtorches are great. We've got a little one, I highly recommend it--it uses butane just like a bigger, stronger cigar lighter.

The blowtorch used by my daughter and her beau was a regular, full-size blowtorch.
