You know, for all my adoration of all things maudlin I can't actually listen to "I Hung My Head". It's just too much or something.

Sam Stone? SURE. Dying Children? YOU BET. Murdered Maidens? MY FAVE. Just can't take that one song.

Go fig.

That is one smokin' list, you wild hepcat! Is that "Ace of Spades" as in the same song Motorhead did?

Do you remember the Soul Asylum album that spoofed the cover of Herb Alpert's "Whipped Cream" album?

Kate, I gotta admit I usually skip over that one mentally when it comes on. Fortunately for me I've never heard the original Sting version.

JY, I don't think so. The Link Wray is just an instrumental. Lulu suggested the Motorhead version as a choice on my Las Vegas playlist. That Soul Asylum was the one with the clam dip, right? Ugh. I get queasy just thinking of it. You can practically smell that cover.

Yeah, it is pretty gnarly, wasn't it? And you've got to admit that the chick on the Herb Alpert cover was somewhat hotter than Dave Pirner.

How can I be expected to read your list with a giant bottle of bourbon there to distract me?

JY, did you know the original Herb Alpert kitten was pregnant when she did that cover?

Melinda, I expect you to pour yourself a drink and read on.

To quote Wayne (of Wayne's World), "I did not know that!"

Link Wray, Waits, Cash, Wolf, AND Herb Alpert and the TJB? That's a hell of a list!
