Totally unimaginative gift ideas

How 'bout a clip-on tie for the man in your life?

The clip-on tie was invented on today's date in 1928.

Thanks for the shopping tip! I'm going to buy a dozen of them.

I have never seen the point of ties, and I was never even forced to wear one.

I hate ties, but I like the idea of clip ons, in case I am around high speed equipment I won't be drug in.

Or - Ninjas can't get hold of me that easy. You have to think these things through!

There's a different kind of tie than the clip on?

From Animal House, 1978:

"Is that a clip-on?"

Johnny, yes it is. Right next to the pledge pin.

mob...perhaps...

skylersdad, those are both EXCELLENT reasons for wearing a clip on tie. In the same way that the only excuse for ever wearing a fannypack is to conceal a handgun, the only excuse to wear a clip-on tie is to avoid ninja strangulation or mangling by machinery.

Barbara, make sure you get them in a nice variety of black and navy blue.

I actually enjoy wearing a tie and have never gotten guys who have a problem with them. I think, maybe, there are just vast numbers of men who don't know how to buy shirts with collars that fit and that's why they find them so uncomfortable.

I'll send you one, what's your favorite color?

You're behind the times dude. They have zip-on ties for the kiddies these days.

Kirby, zip-on ties? I must see this.

Dr MVM, thanks, but I have a nice assortment in navy blue and black already.

And a salute to the Dickie, as well.

Real ties are good, except when they're mandatory -- then they sometimes feel like nooses, which is what Gandhi dubbed them.

Yes, the type you never untie once they are tied.

I love that you know that. I also thought the clip-on tie was more of a 60's debacle. Who knew?!

Do they have them in velcro to go with that shirt I wear?
