Amazing how many posts you milked out of a pile of woodchips...

Bye, pile.

And that would be your accomplice in the wood-chipper?

Yay! I did enjoy the 'front lawn held hostage' eleven day drama, but I'm glad that it's over.

This calls for a drink, I think!

And the ramshackle compound looks pretty darned nice, too! Good on ya, Bubs. I hope you're enjoying a cold one.

Long live the pile.

Ah crap, Dr. Monkey stole my line!!

Bubs - I've been thinking that since you like Tom Waits, you'd like Greg Brown too. A Good Iowan.

MnMom, I'm intrigued. Tell me more about Greg Brown?

Dr MVM, that was going to be my opening line after the post title. Well done. The pile does, in fact, live on in a far friendlier and more useful way.

Wren, thanks. Yesterday was the first mint julep of summer now that enough of our mint has grown in.

Barbara, my thoughts exactly. See above.

Mob, no kidding.

CP, I'll never talk.

Frieda, it should be two years now before I have to go through this again.

Eebie, I could've been even more shameless, really. This could easily have been a 5 or 6 post event.

Sniff... I feel like I really came to know and love the pile!

Check out Greg Brown here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=jK0-bOdXIHs&feature=related
There aren't many good videos of him there.

He's a fab folk guy - got his start in Iowa City and soon rightly rocketed on. His stuff from the 70's and 80's is my favorite - thick deep voice, perfect acoustic guitar, talented songwriter.

I danced with my father at my wedding to his song "The Iowa Waltz"

Oh, I know him! MizBubs' dad is a bluegrass and folk musician (her family is from Iowa) and I remember him playing that song for us a few years ago. I'll have to go find some more by Mr. Brown.

Thanks!

Not a one left, huh? Damn, child, you are no joke when it comes to de-wood-chipping :)

So that's why the uptight old man across the street is dancing.
