Remoulade

Remoulade...I'm in love with saying that word. I made my first remoulade sauce earlier today, and it came out pretty well.

Our eldest requested fried scallops and jambalaya for her birthday dinner, with pecan pie for dessert.

This was the scallop portion of the meal: deep-fried scallops served over salad greens with remoulade sauce and crispy onions.

I may have a new house bourbon--Buffalo Trace. It's pretty freaking delightful. A little Buffalo Trace over ice with a splash of water was the Sunday afternoon cocktail while the jambalaya cooked, football blasting in the background.

All in all, a fine day. Hope y'all had a great weekend...

Are you sure you fine folks are from New Orleans originally? That meal sounded fantastic.

Hard to get more civilized than that. Zowie!

After checking the links, how would one (the diner) know which type has mayonnaise in it? I try to avoid mayo, but all the rest sounds grand. However, I'm not a mayo fascist when it comes down to such delicacies.

Sounds great, glad you had a good time!

SkylersDad, thanks!

Erik, I'm not sure. The one we made was oil-based, from an Emeril Lagasse recipe. Oil, lemon juice, horseradish, Creole mustard, chopped onion, garlic, ketchup, salt & pepper mainly.

Dr. MVM, in another life I think.

Aren't life's simple pleasure the best? A good meal, a good drink, a little football on the tube, loved ones nearby. Life is good.
Recipe please!

Lucky you. I'm in love with the word Walthamstow which is a rundown neighbourhood in East London and doesn't look nearly as good as remoulade. But I guess we can't choose the words we love.

Yowsa, that looks great and you're right, the word is one of those perfect sounding ones. Happy Birthday to the girl with the good taste and pass the Buffalo Trace!
