New Orleans won't let us go...or Chicago doesn't want us back

That's the view of gate C8 here at Louis Armstrong Airport in New Orleans. It seems that getting home won't be so easy tonight. Imagine the irony of me, stranded, in New Orleans, without a delicious meal or cocktail in front of me?

With typical Louisiana efficiency the agent at the gate announced that it might be a good idea to grab something to eat because
the "restaurants" in the terminal close "at around 7". He made this announcement at around 6:40, and I was already walking away from the gate and down the concourse as he made it.

The three restaurants in the terminal had already put their gates up and were closed. I suspect that the employees, with a speed that's normally not associated with any human activity down here, closed up shop as soon as they heard the announcement so as not to have dozens of disgruntled passengers cause them to be late getting off work.

Argh! I don't imagine you had time to stuff your pockets full of crawfish before heading to the airport either.

Hope you make it home soon, Bubses.

That's right! That's how they get you! They're all out to piss you off Bubs.

And please stop thinking the service is like in Chicago.

Ah, the airport delay adventure. I know it well.

Remember after the Tiki Blogger get together? I volunteered to give up my seat on two flights for $500 each! I still have credits left!

Have you thought about cannibalism? It's all the rage these days.

On Thursday I flew back from Florida. On the Midway parking shuttle a family was complaining that their trip to Disney was the Worst. Vacation. Ever.
Apparently many New Orleans natives flee to Mouseville during Mardis Gras to escape the tourists. So many that this poor family had to wait 45 minutes for a corndog and didn't get their fair share of rides on Space Mountain.
I blame W. Maybe holiday displacement and re-patriation is something the Obama administration should look into.
