Ellie Greenwich, co-writer of such girl group classics as Leader of the Pack, Chapel of Love and Da Doo Ron Ron, died of a heart attack at age 68.
Here's some cool video of the fabulous Ronettes singing "Be My Baby". Feel the yearning.

So long Ellie, such a loss.
She was amazing. Looking her up, I discovered that she also wrote yet another of my favorite songs: "Hanky Panky." Tommy James and the Shondells had a hit with it. Here's the story about it:

Bubs - a kinda Behind-the-Story story: a 1000-years ago at LA's Fairfax High I was a half-year ahead of Phil Spector who, as y'all know, recently went away forever. Even then,Grade 11, Phil was cutting "To-Know-Know-Know-Him-Is-To-Love-Love-Love-Him" with a girl-group called "The Teddy-Bears."
Ellie was a Teddy-Bear as was a girl Phil later married and literally drove crazy and a third girl - all from Fairfax High. I'm told by a good friend who played piano on all the Wall-of-Sound stuff that Phil was his perfectionist psycho self that day - eventually being the 4th Teddy-Bear on the final "take."
Love those songs. RIP, for sure.
Those were great songs, sad to hear about Ellie.
