The compound is under construction. Gathering enough plywood, galvanized tin and used trailers takes time, not to mention stockpiling all the shotgun ammo, canned goods and bourbon.
I got pretty well lit up, but no hangover. I was a sensible drinker and took in plenty of water, aspirin before bed, etc. So, ironically, I was the first one up at 9:30 after going to bed just after 4. Go figure.
All the food we cooked was made with a nod toward comfort and alcohol absorption: cinammon rolls for breakfast, then I made a big pot of New Orleans-style red beans and rice with smoked sausage on the side, and bread pudding for dessert.
I didn't go on my New Years day run this year. I slacked off and puttered around the house instead. Good times.

I feel your pain. I thought that hanging out with a non-drinking friend would keep me from overindulging. I was wrong.
