R.I.P. Don Ho

One of my witty friends notified me of the passing of Don Ho with this headline:

"One less Ho in the music business."

Yes, Don Ho has died of heart disease at the age of 76.

I feel good that we developed our drink in honor of Don Ho while he was still alive. My sister in law Kate is pictured here, holding one of the festive libations.

Did you know that Don Ho was a fighter pilot? He was also quite fertile, fathering 10 children.

Farewell, Mr. Ho.

Bubs, I have been waiting for this post from you. I knew you find your way around to it. I think we need to lift our glasses at the Tiki Terrace to Don.

Yes indeed. Pick a day this week if you'd like. I'm at a training seminar all week so I have evenings free...

Just thinking about that drink makes my head hurt.

That's a sure sign of a HO Success.

As I told Grant already, Mindy June, Lulu and I went to college with his nephew. Just thought you should know.

CP, really? Another from your long list of brushes with fame!

Kate, indeed. Your sister and I are starting our annual de-whitetrashification of the yard to prepare for drinking outside when the warm weather arrives. Get ready.

I was reading Don's obit this morning-- I'd forgotten that some friends of mine had named their band The Kui Lee 5 in honor of Don's songwriting partner (He wrote, among other songs, "I'll Remember You," which they covered).

Tiki Terrace? Yeah!

I didn't know we went to college with his nephew. How did I miss that? Well, besides by being drunk most of the time I was there.

That is one festive mug. Truly suitable for containing those bubbles.
