Happy Tanabata!

If we were in Japan right now, we'd be celebrating Tanabata, the festival of the stars. We'd be writing wishes on colorful paper and decorating trees with origami, and hanging beautiful streamers all over the place.

I wish I'd known about this earlier. Because now I'm just going to go to the Jewel and buy some food to grill later tonight, and I'm going to drink some beer. And it won't even be Japanese beer.

Oh well. Maybe next year.

Happy Tanabata!

Y'know, you could at least make the effort with some Japanese beer, just to let them know you care.

Wow, those are not your average dollar store streamers, are they? How pretty. And I bet they would be even prettier with a Kirin beer in hand.

It's all fun and games until Godzira shows up and ruins Tanabata every year.

Your sacrifice in the name of multiculturalism is moving, and an example to be followed. I may skip the grilling and just go right for the booze.

Good move Johnny. Why waste time?

JG, who says we're provincial here in the midwest?

Dale, and that is possibly the ultimate in alligator attacks.

Barbara, and a snoot full of hot sake.

Dr. MVM, I'm thinking next year of decorating with streamers that I've made out of old shooting targets, and origami alligators. No clowns.

mob, I know. I feel really bad about that. For some reason I never buy Japanese beer to consume at home, and I love Sapporo.

Katy, thanks
