Here comes success

My job in Dallas, Texas is done.

The training video I worked on was unveiled today at a meeting of 150 regional loss prevention managers. I did a brief presentation following the film, and answered some questions. The handcuffing presentation was the last one of the day, and afterward all the attendees divided by region and went out to dinner together. Everyone seemed really happy with the training video, and judging from the evaluation forms my presentation went over pretty well.

I sat with a guy from South Carolina, a Chicago transplant who now lives in Tampa, and two women from Louisiana. Like everyone I've ever met from Louisiana, they liked to talk, and they liked to talk about food. I got hungry even as I sat there eating. We had a few beers with dinner and all ended up talking about alligator attacks. It was fascinating doing the compare/contrast between Floridian and Louisianan takes on alligator awareness. It was a splendid evening.

Now I'm back at the fabulous Hyatt Place hotel, which, if I were a regular business traveler, I'd be madly in love with.

They let you bring beer into their internet business center.

I'll have to tell Mr. Ten S about the hotel in case he ends up there on business. Mmmmm, beer...

There's nothing like a night away from home talking about alligator attacks after a good handcuffing presentation.

Though, something tells me you'll be glad to get home.

Loss prevention- I think this makes my post the other day all the more offensive. Ugghh.

I'm glad it went over well; I feel obliged to avoid making any lewd handcuffing jokes for a time. I imagine that will wear off though.

Just when I'd given up hope on American business, reason for hope!

Nice to hear that all of your effort was well accepted. It's tough to present something you work hard on in front of a bunch of people, glad it went well!

Skylersdad, thanks.

Johnny, there is hope after all. I found out that these loss prevention managers were a pretty rollicking bunch.

Freida, I had missed the post you refer to, so I just went back and read it. YOW. You've got some mad skillz in the hot writing department. And don't refrain from the lewd handcuffing jokes. No one else does.

Your post reminded me of a story told to me by a friend of mine who worked as a security guard years ago. He had a girlfriend visit him while he was working midnights (back before the omnipresence of security cameras and key cards) and they ended up getting busy on the corporate conference table. In the middle of coitus the song "Baby Elephant Walk" came over the corporate muzak that was piped in all night, and the couple fell apart laughing.

Coolcat, I'm going nuts here.

Ten, seriously, this place is great.

as a business traveler i can tell you the hyatts are usually pretty nice. The one I was in last week was actually nicer than the Ritz Carlton I just left this week.
