Chicago River Gator CAPTURED!

A frightened city breathes a sigh of relief as animal control workers captured a 3 foot long alligator who had been marauding along the Chicago River near Fullerton. Animal Care & Control called in outside contractors--operators from the Chicago Herpetological Society, who launched a daring nighttime raid by canoe.

The alligator is pictured below, as he was taken away for interrogation by a team of skilled alligator whisperers...

I wonder if it's related to the gator that was abandoned in Beloit earlier this year:

When I took Adam to the Reptile show, which is sponsored by the Chicago Herpetological Society, a couple of years ago, they told us that they do a number of such rescues every year. It's amazing the number of people who get gators and other reptiles and think they're cute when they're small and are apparently shocked when they start growing to adult reptiles.

I love reading the comments on articles like that. Hilarious.

At long last the alligator reign of terror is over. God bless the Chicago Herpetological Society shock troops, and God bless the USA!!
