Thank God

Thank God that in this crazy, mixed-up, gator-ridden world of ours, we still have pie.

Strawberry rhubarb pie.

I'm telling you, everyone should have a MizBubs to freshen their drinks and bake them pie. She looks adorable, and she even gave me a few fresh strawberries to muddle into my bourbon. Tasty.

I don't eat rhubarb, but I'm home; can I come over for a drink?

Sure, one day you're muddling strawberries into your bourbon, and then the next day, you're...um...you know, I can't think of anything worse than bourbon-muddled strawberries.

Yum, we just had SR pie too!

My strawberry patch has an amazing yield this year.

Strawberries muddled into bourbon. Brilliant idea.

Tell the Mz we have an overgrown garden with rhubarb and fennel if she wants it it's hers. I mow over most of it in the fall anyway.

My grandmother used to make strawberry rhubarb pies from strawberries and rhubarb from her own garden, as well as apple pies from the small orchard in her backyard in the house my mother grew up in in Evergreen Park.

When my grandfather retired and my grandparents sold the house and moved to Arkansas, the people who bought the house cut down the orchard and dug up the garden. Philistines.

Johnny, we used to have strawberries and raspberries years ago. We might plant some fruit again. I miss it.

Grant Miller, feel free to bring a bunch of rhubarb next time we meet. And fennel. It's good for roasting on the grill.

Erik, yes there is.

Coolcat, excellent! What did you do with all of them?

Vikki, a few small strawberries mashed up in the bottom of the glass gave the bourbon a slight pink hue and a delicious but light flavor.

Lulu, we'll get together real soon!

Cap'n, MizBubs is one of a kind, sadly, but you can gladly have some pie.

WP, thanks!

DrZaius, coming right up!

That looks divine. And it reminds me that I really need to harvest the rhubarb.

Oh my gosh, I just had my first-ever slice of strawberry rhubarb pie the other day; WOW.

Please, MizBubs, can I have a piece?

dguz, we always share our pie. I'm glad you were able to taste one of the great wonders of the world, teh strawberry rhubarb pie.

JG, I'll pass that on to my better half. I like to think that we're pretty enthusiastic about nearly everything that can be bad for you: drinking, gambling, guns, fatty foods and sweets.

Dr MVM you're darn tootin!
