Give the people what they want

And if the people (and by that I mean one solitary Australian Googler) want Sybil Danning, then by God I aim to give em some Sybil Danning.

Lovers of exploitation movies rejoice: Sybil Danning is about to return to the big screen after an absence of 18 years! This picture is from the trailer to "Werewolf Women of the SS." WWOTSS is a trailer directed by Rob Zombie that's going to be shown halfway through the new Quentin Tarantino/Robert Rodriguez movie Grindhouse. Man, am I excited!

Grindhouse is a tribute to all those sleazy exploitation wonders from the 70's and early 80's. Splatter films, slasher films, women-in-prison movies (hubba), torture films, Giallo, Jess Franco, cannibal movies...whew. Go to the official Grindhouse website and watch the trailer--all I can say is, any movie that features a hot amputee chick being outfitted with a prosthetic leg/machine gun is ok by me. You can see a nice collection of stills here at Bloody-Disgusting.

Hmmm...if Sybil Danning is back, maybe we'll see more of Mary Woronov.

I've seen the Grindhouse trailer and so this is just extra extra super sloppy fun.

Dale, you said it. My eldest is excited--the Fangoria convention is coming up in Chicago later this month and there's supposed to be a bunch of Grindhouse stuff there.

Jin, another Eating Raoul fan!!! What a wonderful movie. Did you know that Mary Woronov was part of Warhol's Factory crowd, and used to play the part of "The Whip Girl" during Velvet Underground performances? She wrote an excellent autobiography called "Swimming Underground."

One of my prized possessions is an original poster of Hershel Gordon Lewis' "Blood Feast." It's wrapped up and in storage in the basement until my step-daughter's a little older-- my wife feared it would disturb her. She's probably right. It's pretty disturbing.

My friend Paul Nudd, who was the art teacher at my school in Cicero, was a big fan of the genre. He got Herschel Gordon Lewis to sign on his driver's license as an organ donor witness at a Fangoria convention.

I gave one of my best friends, who is German, the "Ilsa, She Wolf of the SS" box set for Christmas a few years ago. I'm just a sentimental guy I guess.

I loved Eating Raoul as well.

Wait, that last part didn't sound just right...

Johnny, it's ok. I know what you meant. Really.

Ilsa...whew. Ugly, ugly ugly. What WERE we all thinking back in the 70's? And where's Dyan Thorne nowadays?

You mentioned another favorite in HG Lewis! A few years ago I met a guy in Niles who was a friend of his, and part of one of his movies was shot at this guy's house. It was pretty cool.

That movie was a classic and I think I deserve a fresh viewing at some point. The book sounds interesting too.

Yay Sybil!

I can't wait for Grindhouse to come out, the whole concept looks so cool, the wife is even interested to see it, just because of the design of the project.

And Mary Woronov needs to shoot her webdesign guy, her site's nearly impossible to navigate...

I've read Swimming Underground.

I <3 HG Lewis, too.

*jin frowns*
I'm a freak, aren't I?!

Jin, we love freaks. And if you like HG Lewis, Woronov and the like, you're OUR kind of freak.

Mob, you're right about that web design thing. I thought that page was some kind of passive aggressive joke it was so weird. Grindhouse will definitely be a family fun night movie outing, just like Sin City was.

Dale, I was thinking the same thing.
