Law enforcement quote of the week

"We want people to like our officers, but not to lick them."
Freeport, Texas Police Chief Jeff Pynes, referring to an incident involving an arrestee named Ryan Halverson. Halverson, pictured above, was being booked for public intoxication when he leaned forward and licked Sgt. Jay Newton on the face. Halverson evidently found Sgt. Newton to be tasty, because he tried to lick him a second time before the sergeant stepped out of the way.

Chief Pynes went on to say that since the incident, Sgt. Newton has been getting "a lot of ribbing from fellow officers."

"He's been getting a lot of lollypops in his internal mail..."

Another criminal licked.

Oh wait, it was the other way around...

Eeeew!

Well he looked like a fish but he tasted like chicken!

What did he taste like? So funny. Can you imagine licking someone you aren't having sex with? Yeah, me neither...

Bubbsie, you are the best.

That poor officer. For a while he'll be known around the station as Tootsie Pop, then his new nickname will morph once and for all into T.P.

Good gravy! You are really triggering my empathy switch this week, Bubs. Poor Sgt. Newton.

This Ryan character should be a national posterchild for "saying no to meth."

Get that boy some prison grits. He looks hungry (and his fake 'stache is coming loose).

Reminds me of a story a friend and I co-wrote back in the 10th grade. We replaced like with lick through out.

It earned us each a bit of a tongue lashing from our teacher.

Maybe it's just the mug shot, but the guy has the dead-eyed look of someone with no functional conscience, whom I would not want to meet on the street when I was alone.

Your girls are lovely from the back. I'm sure they're lovely from the front, too. Watch them, Bubs.

I just got back from visiting family in Kansas City. My nephew is a detective on the Kansas City Police Force. My son and husband returned with tee-shirts marked:

POLICE
KC/MO

Ya think that will scare off criminals around heah?

Dr Z, I know! what an ignoranamus!

Grandmere, I think that down where you are, wearing that KCPD shirt would just cause your criminals to ask for a good barbecue recipe before they rolled you. Tell your nephew to stay safe!

D-Cup, heh. I love stuff like that.

Freida, do you think he'd settle for Nutra-Loaf?

Distributorcap, ugh. And maybe some topical ointment for the inevitable rash.

Lauralu, you're right, only darker. Yeesh.

Mathman, I think they were a pair of serial lickers who roamed the deep south, weren't they?

Cormac, meth and light beer.

Kirby, yep. Either that or "Timex", you know, "takes a licking"...

Katie and MnMom, you gave me an obvious opening for a "tasted like pork" joke, but I'll refrain.

Fran, indeed.

Bubs, KC is about as bad-ass as New Orleans with murders. My nephew tries his best to stay safe.
